| During Qualifacts first 6 years of business as a private software company the primary focus on the business was building highly customized systems for large behavioral health and human services providers across the country including the nation’s largest community mental health provider, Centerstone, headquartered in Nashville, TN. These custom systems were delivered via an ASP (Application Service Provider) model in which Qualifacts would host the application for the large providers. As an ASP (vs. a SaaS provider) there were limitations. First was cost—most providers simply could not afford hundreds of thousands of dollars in custom software. Second, as a custom ASP application customers were individually responsible for ongoing changes; new enhancements, regulatory changes, etc. as they were not on a common code line across all other CareLogic ASP customers. As a result, Qualifacts made the decision in 2005 to move to a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. |
Qualifacts manages all network maintenance and upgrades from day one, so the agency’s IT staff is free to work on its own strategic initiatives. There’s no need to focus on system maintenance – a distraction and cost that makes sense to avoid with all the other priorities agencies face - or hire expensive and difficult to retain computer programmers.
All Qualifacts customers use the same platform with new features provided regularly at no additional cost. Traditional software applications grow less efficient and useful over time while SaaS applications improve. So as long an agency is a client of Qualifacts, its EHR will be state-of-the-art allowing it to maintain a competitive advantage.
