| Open source EMR software. Since 1999, FreeMED software Foundation has worked very hard to provide the open source community with a stable, efficient and easy to use electronic medical record and practice management system. The Foundation performs research and development, keeping its system free and open under the GNU Public License. Commercial additions and commercial support is available through the Foundation's commercial support partners. It is recommended that FreeMED's server run using Linux, however clients can be any computer with a modern web browser. |
FreeMED has integrated scheduling, document management, prescription writing, faxing and printing, modular EMR, HL7 interface, reporting services, internal messaging facilities, full billing capabilities through the use of REMITT (also GPL licensed), claims management and accounts receivable functionalities, and many other features comparable or superior to traditional closed source electronic medical record systems. Supports medical device interface, signature and label support through FreeSHIM.
