| Intelligent Business Solutions (IBS) was incorporated in August 1989. The company began by deploying state of the art information technology. IBS clientele base included NASA, RJR Tobacco, B/E Aerospace, Sara Lee and Wake Forest University. In 1991 IBS began development of a Cardiothoracic Surgery information system. This system not only met stringent database requirements but also revolutionized automated document and workflow within the Cardiothoracic Surgery environment. This foray into the medical arena proved to be a pivotal point in the company's direction.
What began in 1991 as an initial assignment to develop a data collection and reporting system for the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department had by 1995 evolved into a comprehensive and integrated system for the entire Heart Center (Cardiology, CT Surgery, Vascular Lab, and Cardiac Rehabilitation departments). Our flagship product CAOS was born during this initial development stage. By 1997 CAOS was a full fledged electronic medical record system designed to automate the production of clinical and office documents (consultations, history & physical, operative note, prescriptions, discharge summary, letters, etc.).
In October 1997, CAOS, Inc. became a certified vendor with the ACC-NCDR. During this time CAOS took the next step and became a true point-of-care clinical research and information system. Since 1997, CAOS expanded to all areas including: Cardiothoracic Surgery EHR, Surgical Consult, Adult Cardiac Coding Tool, Surgical Consult Coding Tool, Pre Cath Clinic, Adult Echocardiography, Stress Testing, Nuclear Testing, Electrophysiology, Holter, Cardiology Clinic, Invasive Cardiology, Integrative Medicine, Nursing Notes, as well as interfaces with all the major Hemodynamic Monitoring, Hospital Enterprise, and Lab Results systems. In 1998 CAOS Inc. became a certified vendor with the STS for Adult Cardiac and this certification now includes both Thoracic Surgery and Congenital Heart.
In 2002, IBS began doing business as Clinical Automated Office Solutions (CAOS) and with great pressure from existing CAOS users developed of an electronic patient chart for the physician practice. During this time, IBS also delivered its Software as a Service (ASP - Application Service Provider) technology for both the CAOS and PracticeEMR product lines.
In the latter half of 2005, CAOS expanded the Practice EMR product line to include an economical service that provides a coding and billing solution as well as the CAOS EMR. This service line was proudly named "The IBS Billing Service in honor of the company's original incorporated title. The IBS Billing Service provides a versatile environment for our physician practices that includes minimal work flow changes for the staff, scanned documents, electronic capture of demographic information, and internet access to patient charts, custom reports and minimal start up fees. The IBS Coding Service is staffed by CPC certified coders who are committed to search for maximum billing potential and a prompt turnaround time for physician billing.
As new procedures and treatments are developed, CAOS will continue to evolve in order to provide our clients with a competitive advantage and help them in their pursuit of excellence and improving patient care. |
